Cupids & Canines Casino Night 2009 was a huge success! We had a turnout of over 350 guests, and the total proceeds going directly to charity is $10,564.20! Thanks to all of our guests, sponsors, and everyone else who helped make this event a success. We look forward to making it even bigger and better in 2010!

The winner of the pinball tournament was Trent Augenstein.

Some pictures from the event are available here, along with Post-Gazette coverage and two videos from YouTube, provided by sonicmario.

Camp Bow Wow®, North America's premier doggy day care and overnight boarding franchise, is pleased to announce Cupids & Canines Casino Night 2009, benefitting Western Pennsylvania Humane Society, Washington Area Humane Society, and Bow Wow Buddies.

  • Where: PAPA World Headquarters in Scott Township, PA (directions)
  • When: Saturday, February 7, 2009, from 8pm to 11pm (or later)
    (tournament opens at 11am)
  • Why: A fun Valentine evening for you and your date!
  • Advance Price: $25/person, $45/couples (purchased before February 7)

Cupids & Canines Casino Night will feature free dessert and coffee, a chance auction for great prizes, a 50-50 raffle, casino gaming tables where you can win more chances, dogs for adoption from local shelters, and the rare opportunity to play hundreds of classic & modern pinball machines. You can also meet Pinky and Trixie, cover dogs of the Western Pennsylvania Humane Association's 2009 calendar.

The chance auction will include a 3-night trip for two to Las Vegas, donated by Doreen Valentine-Martin of Camp Bow Wow Pittsburgh South (includes round-trip airfare, hotel stay, and choice of show; click here for more details and restrictions).

You can win chance auction entries by playing the casino gaming tables. With your admission ticket, you will receive $20,000 in "play money", which can be used at the casino gaming tables (blackjack, craps, roulette, Texas Hold 'Em). Each $5,000 in play money buys one ticket for the chance auction. If you want more play money, you can buy $10,000 for $10 real money, or $40,000 for $30. Remember, all proceeds go to our charities! (If you don't feel like gambling, just convert your play money directly into chance auction tickets.)

Prizes include the following items and much, much more:

  • Football autographed by Steeler Heath Miller
  • Hockey stick autographed by Penguin Sidney Crosby
  • $700 cocktail party at The Rhythm House in Bridgeville
  • $150 gift certificate to Orr's Jewelers in Squirrel Hill
  • 40"x40" signed painting by Marc Tetro
  • Behind The Scenes Tour Group at the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium
  • ... and many other prizes & packages, including certificates for restaurants, movies, massages, and more ...

Doors at the PAPA World Headquarters, located in Scott Township, will open at 8pm (tournament players can arrive at 11am); the casino games will run until 11pm, when we will hold the chance auction drawings. Tickets are being sold at all Pittsburgh-area Camp Bow Wow locations. Tickets are also available online!

PAPA features a huge, unique collection of pinball machines (as well as video games, dance games, etc), otherwise only available to the public for one weekend a year. To learn more about PAPA, take a look at the pictures and articles from the PAPA 11 tournament in August 2008. We also have pictures available from last year's Cupids & Canines event.

New for 2009, we will be running an official pinball tournament during this event. Each admission ticket will include one non-transferable entry into the tournament; additional entries can be purchased for $10 each. For complete details on the tournament, click here.

Pinball fans take note - we will be featuring the latest machines from Stern Pinball, including Spider-Man, Shrek, Batman: The Dark Knight, and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Everyone is welcome to stay and play pinball late into the night - and all coins in machines go towards charity!

50% of the proceeds will benefit Bow Wow Buddies, a foundation that was set up to contribute to canine cancer research, to work with individual Camp Bow Wow locations to promote foster dog adoptions, and to rescue dogs in countries where they are treated horribly. 25% will go to Western Pennsylvania Humane Society, and another 25% will go to the Washington Area Humane Society.
