News at 11: Local Golfer Attacked by Gofers

KDKA Pittsburgh reports a Boston man named Bowen Kerins was attacked by gofers today while golfing near the PAPA headquarters. Onlookers report two gofers taunted him several times, destroyed his golf cart by firing at it with projectiles, and subsequently caused electrical problems in the clubhouse after hole #7. Bowen declined comment other than to adamantly state the two gofers were “No Good”. He insists he will continue golfing after a brief respite and one day hopes to better his personal best of 46 over par.

I would like to see how you approach Congo. It is one of my favorite games, and doesnt seem to get much attention.

Of these, Voltaire is the most likely to get some video love. There are some good tactics, such as stacking the Frenzie and Razz multiballs with Juggler or Highwire.

Congo gets a little repetitive with MAP and ZINJ, so it probably wouldn’t be as fun to watch.

Unfortunately, Champion Pub isn’t at PAPA, and even if it was it would not be a featured game for video. Champion Pub’s scoring is, to be polite, a little screwy, and I’ve never seen it featured in competition. It is a game with fun shots and a great playfield toy, but no good for a tournament.

Thanks and more videos will be coming soon.

Thanks for the vid! I kinda expected Gofers to have something else to it than going for multiball, but maybe that’s because my ability to get hole-in-one is sub par. Those jackpots really go up in value.

I would love to see Bowen treat on White Water and Terminator 2. White Water offers multi-level playfield with the main one with small open area. Where as Terminator 2 is ramp and orbit action. Both are great games.

Last Friday, I used Bowen’s tip about waiting after shooting the left ramp twice to make the #1 spot on the online leaderboards for the PS3 version of Gofers; 1.9B! My first score was higher but the online score submission system seems to max out right around 2.0B… This equates to approximately 57 jackpots, and 2 hours of play. If the jackpot is truly progressive (+1M every time), then approximately 139 jackpots are required to break into the next order of magnitude at 10B. Of course, this is not REAL pinball; the main physics problem with the PS3 version is that a “nudge” alters the course of a free-moving ball permanently, effectively allowing one to steer stray shots into exact positions to maintain control.
