Pinburgh at 170 players! Aww yeah!

When we set up Pinburgh 2011 back in October, we crossed our fingers and hoped players would want to attend a large-scale match-play tournament at PAPA. The prize pool was set for $13,000, in hopes that 130 players would register and play.  The tournament will be held on 150 unique pinball machines in 50 groups of 3:

As of 8 am, there are 171 players registered for Pinburgh.

From now until 11 am, every new registration will increase the prize pool by $100 above its current $17,100. Get over here. If you’re still deciding whether or not to attend, ask someone who is…

We look forward to meeting almost three dozen players who have never played at a PAPA tournament before, and the more than ten dozen who have.  We think the match play will help everyone meet new players from all over the world, then rejoice in a shared pinball experience like no other.

We’re making it happen today — big thanks to Kevin, Steve, and Mark for all they’ve contributed.  We’re not sure, but we think Pinburgh 2011 is the largest match-play pinball tournament ever held.  Join in, or circle August 11-14 2011 for the PAPA World Pinball Championships and maybe save some room for March 2012…

Thanks for playing.

Hi Bowen! Would you consider being a personal pinball “trainer”? I need to learn the ways of the master. Let me know buddy!

Looks like we’re already up to the finals, and I’m top seed in B division! Thanks, Bowen! =~>

This looks like so much fun! I love the format of the tournament compared to others that I have heard of. I like the head to head battle throughout the tournament. Hope you plan to make this an annual event. I will start saving now to make the tournament in the next couple of years! I am pretty new to pinball, but have already developed a great passion for the game. My best friend introduced me and for all practical purposes supports my pinball need. I play every chance I get and will love to play in larger tournaments as time goes by. GREAT JOB!!!

Congratulations Brian! (We are running tests to ensure the tournament-running software is adequate, bug-free, and speedy.)

Dane, we are planning to make this an annual event. By making this year’s tournament great, we’ll get an even bigger crowd for 2012 and beyond. Playing with and against others is the way we all learned our skills, so a tournament with that as the centerpiece is a natural fit. Hope you can make it to Pinburgh or PAPA soon, and some local events in your area — an event schedule can be found here:
