challenge sliderWhen? Saturday, November 16, 2013 – 6pm EST
What? League Challenge
Who? FSPA vs PPL
Why? A donation will be made to the winning team’s charity. And for bragging rights… lots and lots of bragging rights.

LIVE THIS SATURDAY, PAPAtv will be broadcasting the first ever League Challenge between the Free State Pinball Association and the Pittsburgh Pinball League.

Both leagues have been asked to submit a team of four players and one coach, with each player drawn from a separate quartile of their respective league’s statistics or standings, meaning all skill levels will be represented.

Each team will also be represented by their own cheering section cordoned off directly on the red carpet, only a few feet from the players and games.  The FSPA team and cheering section will be wearing red / maroon.  The PPL team and cheering section will be wearing gold / yellow.  Both sides are permitted to be as loud as their lungs can be.

The challenge will consist of seven separate rounds.
Games choices listed below are subject to change prior to the event.

Round 1: Champion Pub – Full Game – Best two games out of three
Details: Each game must be played by a different player from each team.

Round 2: Aerobatics – Full Game – Best two games out of three
Details: Each game must be played by a different player from each team with priority given to anyone who hasn’t yet competed.

Round 3: Taxi, Metallica, Creature ftbl – Draft style – Best two games out of three
Details: Coaches will alternate in choosing their team’s representative for the first two games, Taxi and Metallica.  Whichever coach is forced to announce his team’s representative on Taxi first will be permitted to announce his team’s representative second on Metallica. Creature from the Black Lagoon will be a five ball, single-game, split flipper match between each team’s remaining two team members.

Round 4: Seven Single Ball Games.
Tales of the Arabian Nights
Ali
Taxi
Metallica
Creature from the Black Lagoon
Champion Pub
Aerobatics
Details: No player may compete on more than two games during this round.

Round 5: Ali – Split Flipper, best two games out of three
Details: Players from game one are not permitted to play in game two.  Game three must include a player from both previous games.

Round 6: Metallica – Best two games out of three
Details: Each game must be played by a different player from each team with priority given to the players who have competed the least.

Round 7: Creature from the Black Lagoon – Five Ball Game
Details: Each player, and the coach, are permitted to play one ball.

The order of play and the submission of players will be handled by random draw. Whichever team chooses to go second must simultaneously declare which player will be participating in the challenge.

The player decisions for each team will be handled by a coach. The coach is permitted to “pinch-hit” for three separate sixty-second periods. The coach must announce his intention to the PAPA official prior to making the switch, and a PAPA official will be standing by with a stop-watch to monitor the clock.  The PAPA official will announce the 30 second mark and count down the final ten seconds.  If the Coaches hands are still touching the machine when the PAPA official calls time, that team automatically loses the round in question.  The player who was originally on the game prior to the coach inserting himself must be the player who returns to the game when the sixty-second period is over.

The “no coaching” rule typically in effect at PAPA hq will be suspended during this event.  Coaches are permitted to stand beside the game and help the player make strategic decisions.  The crowd is also permitted to make noise at any time.

If a game experiences a catastrophic malfunction, The PAPA official will determine a suitable replacement, and all progress to that point in the round will reset to zero.

Please note PAPA is NOT open to the general public, only members of the two leagues are invited to attend this event. In the future, PAPA plans to host additional league challenges. If you feel your league would like to be represented, get in touch with us!

    Thanks for the video 🙂
