For this month’s FSPA update, we wanted to take a closer look at the highlight of our year, and that’s giving away a pinball machine to one lucky league player!
The FSPA has given away 12 pinball machines to members of our leagues since 2002. Games have ranged from electromechanical (Fast Draw, Williams Grand Prix) to solid state (Strikes and Spares, Jokerz, Mata Hari) to even a DMD game (Demolition Man). Every season that a player plays in an FSPA league over the Fall, Spring, and Summer seasons earns one entry to the raffle at the Summer end of season party. Of course, if someone is determined to play all three of our locations (Elkridge, MD; College Park, MD; Sterling, VA,) they can earn three entries per season.
The most important thing to remember of our giveaway is that it doesn’t matter what skill level you are at, all you have to do is play in one of our leagues by the start of week 3 and finish the season in good standing (dues fully paid, not forfeiting the season) to be eligible.
Our 13th giveaway machine, Stern’s Seawitch, will be given away following our Summer 2014 season. Pictures are available at http://www.fspazone.org/giveaway/index.html. Or better yet, come out to our Volleyball House location in Elkridge, MD to play it for yourself.
It’s still not too late to join an FSPA league for the Spring 2014 season to get an entry to win Stern’s Seawitch! Volleyball House league in Elkridge, MD, meets on Wednesdays at 8PM (Week 2 is Feb 5th and Week 3 is Feb 12th) and Town Hall league in College Park, MD, meets on Thursdays at 8:30PM (Week 2 is Feb 6th and Week 3 is Feb 13th.) Mighty Mike’s league in Sterling, VA will start Week 3 as this article is published, but slots are still available if you want to join for the FSPA experience! Mighty Mike’s league is every Monday at 8PM.
Currently, there are 30 players at Mighty Mike’s, 33 players at Volleyball House, and 13 players at Town Hall. Also, if you can’t commit to a full season at this point, you are still welcome to come and guest play in any of our leagues as long as there is space available. Just see the commissioner (Kevin Stone at Mighty Mike’s, Joe Kosack at Volleyball House, and John Locke at Town Hall) prior to league starting and we will try and find you a spot in one of our groups for the night! You can also e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
In future FSPA updates we will cover the idea of stealing points in the FSPA scoring system, and some of the more interesting party contests that we’ve had over the years. Who knows, maybe you’d like to use one of our party contests as a fun side tournament at your next event. Thanks for reading, and of course, play more pinball, especially on location!
